How does the mochi taste?

Last week,  Tina and me decide to make some mochis for kids.

上週，我和Tina老師決定為孩子做一些麻糬

That is because, we were learning five tastes and aboriginal food in unit 1.

因為，在第一課課文中，要學會五種味道和原住民食物的英語

In the early morning, we asked some kids from 601 come to help us.

在早自修時，我們請601的幾位孩子來幫忙

First, we mixed  glutinous rice and few soy bean oil in a plastic bag.

首先，將煮好的糯米加入一點沙拉油一起放進塑膠袋中

Use rolling pin to roll the sweet rice until it became dough.

用擀麵棍將糯米擀成麵糰

That is the basic mochi dough.

最基礎的麻糬糰就成形了

Second, we pick one tiny dough and rub it into a flat circle dough.

接著，捏出一小塊的麻糬糰，將它壓成圓餅狀

Add on of the ingredients in center of the flat circle dough as the fillings.

在圓餅狀的麻糬糰中央加入一種餡料

We have lemons, green tea powders, salt, chili pepper powders and sugar powders.

我們用檸檬果肉、抹茶粉、鹽巴、辣椒粉和糖粉當作餡料

Roll up the dough and make it as round as we can.

將圓餅麻糬糰包裹好餡料捏成圓形

Spread the peanut powders on the mochi as the final touch. 

最後在麻糬外裹上一層花生粉

During the class, I invited some volunteers.

正式上課時，我邀請一些自願者上台

The volunteer needed to pick up one mochi and ate it.

自願孩子並須選吃一顆麻糬

The other kids would have to observe the facial expression of the volunteer.

其他孩子則要用心觀察這個自願者的表情

And guessed "how does the mochi taste?"

猜測"麻糬是甚麼味道?"

Each group had to write down their answer on the mini-white board.

每一組要將猜測的答案寫在小白板上

Some kids are really good at acting.

孩子們真的很會演

Take 605 Daniel as an example.

以Daniel來說，

He ate a mochi with chili pepper powders.

他選到了辣椒粉內餡的麻糬

He smiles and showed his thumb-up after eating the mochi.

吃下麻糬後，他又微笑又比讚

The other kids all wrote down: "The mochi tastes sweet."

其他孩子都寫麻糬是甜的

In the end, he told us it tastes so~~ spicy!

最後，Daniel告訴我們是苦的

And he drank lots of water after revealing the answer.

在揭曉答案後，Daniel還喝了好多水

Daniel cheated everyone successfully!

Daniel成功騙倒大家！ 

Kids are really loved this activity.

孩子們都超愛這個活動的

They said "we ate, we learned English and we enjoyed guessing at the same time."

孩子們事後說，有吃、又學英語還可以猜，太好玩了!
