Five w-questions is used to analyze the story elements.

五個W疑問詞是用來分析故事元素的要件

5 Story elements include characters(who), plot(what), location(where), time(when) and inference(why).

五個故事元素指的是腳色、情節、地點、時間以及推論

The story in the starter unit is about Danny's two foreign friends, Juliet and Raju.

課文故事是在描述Danny的兩位國外朋友Juliet和Raju

They came to Taiwan and visited Danny and Niki.

他們來台灣拜訪Danny和Niki

I proposed 5 questions for kids to discuss and write the answers on their mini-ipad.

我提出了五個問題讓孩子討論並請他們在ipad上寫下答案

Who are in the story?
誰出現在這個故事裡?

What happened in the story?
故事中發生哪些事?

Where did the story happened?
故事發生的地點在哪?

When did the story happened?
 故事是甚麼時候發生的?

Why did Juliet and Raju come to Taiwan?
為什麼Juliet和Raju要來台灣?

We use 28 mini-ipads in the classroom to discuss the 5 w-questions.

我們直接使用28台mini-ipad進行5個W疑問句的討論

When kids finished, they would use ipad to upload their answers to "Nearpod" classroom.

隨後孩子即時上傳答案到我們的Nearpod線上虛擬教室中

Through the "Nearpod"APP, I could showed everyone's answer on the screen.

透過Nearpod這個應用程式，我可以直接將學生的答案投影在白板螢幕上

Kids were excited when they saw their writing on the big screen!

孩子們看到自己寫的英語投影在大螢幕上都非常興奮

Kids came up with several brilliant answers.

很多孩子寫出了非常優秀的解答和推論

Above pictures are the students' answers for the five W-questions.

上面的兩張圖是605-606兩班孩子提出的答案

605 Abby pointed out three different time in the story.

Abby很敏銳地發現因為Juliet打越洋網路視訊回家，

所以有台灣(afternoon下午三點)和英國(morning早上七點)的時間，

還有視訊時Juliet跟父母報告昨天(yesterday)的行程

606 Jerry told us that Juliet and Raju are exchange students. That's why they came to Taiwan!

606 Jerry說Juliet和Raju是來台灣當交換學生的!(有先預習課文內容，好厲害!)

605 Candy thought Danny invite them to came here.

605 Candy認為是因為Danny邀請他們，所以他們才會來的!

Despite few typos, we practiced their reading comprehension and writing ability in this activity.

隨然孩子有一些拼字錯誤(Thay)，重要的是我們練習了閱讀理解和英語寫字的能力

In the future, we will use mini-ipads for more learning activities.

接下來的日子，我們將使用mini-ipad進行更多的學習活動
